WELCOME

These pages are designed to assist both the new property owner and the seasoned hand alike to find the important information you need to make informed decisions about your time here.

VWR has its unique joys and its own special challenges. What seems to be a timeless unaltered region can change in a minute. Hard and heavy rains can come any time of year, wash out roads and make it impossible to get to or from your property. Even roads close in can become impassable, and it might take a while to make repairs. Please be aware and call ahead to discuss conditions and access.

CAN YOU BEAR IT? 1-25-12

Local game cams have recorded black bear raiding the corn feeders in this area.  A heard of Aoudads ran off of one of the local ranches. At first we thought a big cat was after them, now we know it was bear, mom and cubs.

A bear was recently seen crossing FM -1024 just south of Blue Hills Rd.

On researching this at other web sites I discovered bear will wreck a feeder, worse than pigs.

Look for tracks around your feeders and report any bear activity to the game warden.

It is illegal to shoot or harm a bear in Texas.  They can be re-located by TPW.

Speaking of illegal, reports to border patrol of illegal immigration activity has increased in this area.

Verde West Volunteers announce formation of volunteer fire department.  This organization is a stand alone organization of volunteers and is not connected to the Verde West Property Owners Association Inc. The non-profit independent VFD is available to fight wild fires within a 25 mile area of VWR when spotted and /or requested by Comstock or Del Rio wildfire departments.  The commitment is to have a first response team ready to suppress fires before they get out of control, while the direct response department is in route to the event.  We have the support of the Comstock and Del Rio fire departments, and all responses will be coordinated with them.  Our goal is to protect local properties from wildfires.  If you have Firefighter or EMT training and are a local resident you are welcome to join this effort.
