1D1 -  Application

You must complete this application in full and file it no later than April 30 of the year you are applying for agricultural appraisal. If your

application is granted, you do not need to file again in later years unless the chief appraiser requests a new application. You may file a late

application up to midnight the day before the appraisal review board approves appraisal records for the year. Approval usually occurs in

July. If you do file a late application and your application is approved, you must pay a penalty equal to 10% of the tax savings resulting from

agricultural appraisal.

Helpful Hints

A message from the Border Patrol in Comstock. They are very interested in any activity that may occur in Verde West Ranch. The USBP keeps track of sightings and break-ins at all the ranches and develops patterns. This helps them in apprehension of transients. In Comstock they have a Rancher Liaison Officer, Mr. Mario Ramirez, who is happy to work with us on any problem that may occur with illegals.

The Border Patrol will install a detector on your trailer or home that will notify them via radio if someone is trying to break into your property. They catch most of the offenders with this system.

They suggest that you leave a box (wood or metal) outside with canned food and water in it for transients. The reasoning being that they will not break into your property if they can access the food and water.

The Del Rio district, that runs from Carrizo Springs to Sanderson, prosecutes all illegals caught. This information has filtered back into Mexico and the number of crossings has dropped significantly during the past year.

The Border Patrol depends on citizens like us to help them stem the flow of illegal aliens into our area. Please help by reporting any activity related to transient activity or tampering with your private property.

A note: The Sheriff's Department and The Border Patrol operate separately and do not share information, therefore you should report your problem to each unit as both of them will work on this problem.

News from Property Owner Service ...

The property owner service desk has been created in an attempt to help property owners with ownership changes, assessment billing and accounting questions, and information as to the privileges and obligations of Association membership.

Although property owner service can be reached through the main office number, there is a direct line as well on which you can leave a detailed message. Please be sure to provide the name in which the account is found, at least one tract number and a contact telephone number or email address. We will return your call within 24 hours usually, and hopefully will be able to provide the information you need within a day or two, although some research may extend response time.  All personal information on property owners is kept strictly confidential.
